Popular Techniques used for Watercolor Painting

In many cases, watercolor painting is created with brushes; however, not every artist is the same and prefers their own techniques.

The basic techniques include:

  • Washes are used to:
  • Gradually change the color
  • Fading of colors
  • a unique blend of variegated blends
  • Wet in Wet is used to prevent hard edges at the margin of the paint. The paint is allowed to flow on a wet surface.
  • Dry Brush is when the artist prefers a rough or textured appearance.
  • Glazes are used to create a combined color by using a different color glaze, which are placed in layers on the painting.
Artists use the basic techniques to create their own style by using different methods to make various styles.
